Default seat issues

i have a retarded question in way but i will ask....seems like a good place to get info.....i have a 01 f4i and the key no longer will unlatch the rear seat. before at times you had to move the lever back to get the seat to lock in, but now it wont open at all. i was wondering how to get in there to it or if theres a way to get the seat off somehow. its all stock without a undertail kit or anything. thanks for your time...

That's a tough one. With an undertail you can drop the undertail to get at the lock. Then you can acess the latch from the bottom. The stock undertail is bolted to the subframe. To get to the bolts you have to remove the cowling. To remove the cowling you have to take off the seat. You can't take off the seat without unlocking it.

The only thing I can think of is trying to use a long flat blade screwdriver to pop the latch. You can try to access it by taking off the pilot seat.

sound like the whole cylender is turning, try holding the body of the lock as you turn the key.
