The previous owner told me that te fan may need replaced or sensor for it to kick on but I was wanting to know what temp the fan normally kicks in so I can watch the temp to see?

Also, how hard would it be to replace the sensor or fan if need be?

 

If it starts by 220 your fine.

 

And if it doesn't, what would be the easiest way to diagnose if its the fan or sensor? Noob questions here.

 

My fan kicks on around 225 and shuts off around 223

 

ground the fan plug and see if the fan turns on or not

 

My fan kicks on around 228-229. It will vary by bike, yours may be any of the temps mentioned in this thread. If you don't see a fan kicking on by 230, though, you can officially assume something is wrong.

 

Mine on 107 Celcius, that's 224 F kicks fan

 

I rode all evening and I couldn't get it to go above 181*. Hmmmmmm....

 

You could try shorting your fan to see if it's spinning or not

Temp shouldn't go much higher than 180 while riding, mine runs 175-190 while riding depending on my speed and outside temp. Only time I get temp to 225+ is if i've been riding awhile and stop at a redlight for a minute or two.

Or after warming bike to temp from riding, I go through town where speed is 25, and
Temp still doesn't get much higher than 210 unless I get caught at a light.
