Reserve fuel level question

Right you'd think so and that's how it was for me, but with a reserve tank of almost a full gallon that should get you more than 15 miles. You should be able to ride at least another 30-40 miles.

I have 2 F4i's right now. 2005 with 15 tooth front sprocket and a 2006 with stock sprockets. Just that one change makes a HUGE difference in my mileage. 2005 get's 120 miles top per tank before reserve. 2006 typically makes it up past 150 miles.
It seems like my reserve levels are based on fuel level and not time but don't truly know. That would be great to find out which way it works.

Okay so riding in today, I watched somewhat close.
I was at 146 miles when the reserve kicked in. Solid for 5 miles, then one bar down and flashing. About another 5 miles later, 2nd bar is down. Could it be each bar represents 5 mile increments? Think we're on to something
Filled my tank with 4 gallons of gas.

it is definitly not time because i had 2 bars flashing then 3 bars, but after riding a little more i had 3 bars again. i must have hit a bump to disturb the fuel level.
and also if it was time then that would be saying when the reserve comes on and lets say you just let it idle and not go anywhere, that would mean the reserve level would go all the way down but you have plenty of gas left.
