REPSOL SYNTHETIC?
ORIGINAL: Tahoe SC
yes synthetic may add life to an engine, but if you take a look at the stats, people just don't keep motorcycles or cars forever.
a motorcycle motor will go over 40K easy...how many people keep their bikes for over 20K? the mass majority are crashed before this mark, traded in, etc...most bikes don't see this much mileage...and end up stuff'd somewhere else.
so now you use synthetic, just how much more life is it extending the motor? fact is, there isn't any plausible studies conducted with enough vehicles to compare. so say it gives an engine another 50K...that's awesome...but if the original engine life is at say....50K...who keeps their bike for over 50K? so when you add life to the engine...what exactly is it for?
this also applies to cars...which go 100K easy...but who keeps it for that long? the majoriy of people do not.

Unless you're that f4i guy who ROLLED over his odometer and posted it on YouTube
(no of course that's not me)
in the long run, it's all about economics...
now if you were to buy a bike, may want to look for a bike that's used synthentic, assuming that it was broken in on dino first...but with the quality of oils on the market these days, just making sure they've changed oil regularly will suffice.
i personally will be keeping my f4i until it croaks...if ever...so i 'should' switch to synthetic...but i have a crazy baby...and every penny counts...so i use whatever i can get my hands on...bike still runs great...granted maybe not PERFECT and may not have the max HP at 40K...but i won't miss a few ponies here and there...and the bike is still capable of laying a smackdown on the majority of riders...because these days, not only do bikes come and go like the neighborhood ho, riders also can't ride worth beans...and "hauling A$$" no longer means dragging knee at 120mph, but rather, giving a ride to the girlies with low rise and visible thong from the local watering hole or the 'in' places...
what? thirdgen posted his schiznit on youtube?

In the old days 'racing' oil means less detergents and stuff to keep sludge and goo from forming. Since many 'race' engines are torn apart fairly often they don't haave to worry about that, also some of the detergents may break down under racing conditions, but that is a guess. I don't know if the repsol racing is one of these oils, I just thought I would mention it.
Either way, I use a synth blend due to $$$.

i would also like to know what ThirdGenLexi ran in his bike....
i personally have been running Mobil 1 MX4T in my bike, and my brother ran it in his last bike. it seems pretty good and is like 8 bucks a quart, which is fine for me to keep my bike running longer.

Mobil 1 15w-50 during summer and Mobil 1 MX4T during the winter, and always an OEM filter. Been using this combo since 5k miles, now just over 71k, she's still running as strong as the day I rode her home from the dealer with 3 miles. Good stuff!! If you're using Amsoil though, can't go wrong with that fo sho!
