REPSOL SYNTHETIC?
I have a 01 f4i with 9000 miles. What do you guys think of using repsol 4t racing full synthetic 10w50? Should i use a different visiosity or is another brand like amsoil or mobil 1 better? 1 gallon cost me like 60 bucks. Should i use something else and is there another company with cheaper but same oil? thanks yall. I really dont want to spend 60 bucks every oil change unless its really good for the bike?
I use repsol 4T 10W-40 Synthetic blend and it holds up perfect and cheaper then full synthetic, I just picked upthe 4 liter jugtoday and it was 27.99 at my local honda dealership.
Edit- Plus you get this for free can't beat it

i have heard unless you are running redline all day at the track there is no need for synthetic.. and you dont want a friction modifyier sicne it will oil the clutch plates too. find a synthetic without moly? is what you would want i am told.
i just run the cheaper honda oil and its like 16 bux fora gallon

Synthetic oil will add life to your engine and reduces wear even over blends. I don't know about you guys but I want my internals lasting as long as possible. I always recommend running a full synthetic in sportbikes. Whether you run on the track or the street the motors run at high RPM and synthetics reduce friction and heat. Synthetic oil also doesn't break down as fast and can withstand higher heat than conventionals and blends.
I personally like the Bel Ray EXS or the Motul synthetic oil. I haven't tried the repsol stuff because it can be a pain to get. Bel Ray is about $45 - $50 depending where you get it. The Pro Honda oils are really good apparently as well, I actually plan on trying that next oil change.

Shell rotella T full synthetic. Four quarts for under $20 at walmart. It's cheap and it works.
Fact is a large portion of people will wreck their bikes before they ever get to see the degradation caused by using dyno oil vs insanely expensive synthetics.

so should i run 10w50 or go back and trade it for 10w40? I havent had time to change the oil yet and still have the receipt. Haha yeah i got a model too!! Its even more awesome because i have a repsol replica. I heard you arent supposed to mix oils and once you go synthetic you cant go back or something? thanks guys
yes synthetic may add life to an engine, but if you take a look at the stats, people just don't keep motorcycles or cars forever.
a motorcycle motor will go over 40K easy...how many people keep their bikes for over 20K? the mass majority are crashed before this mark, traded in, etc...most bikes don't see this much mileage...and end up stuff'd somewhere else.
so now you use synthetic, just how much more life is it extending the motor? fact is, there isn't any plausible studies conducted with enough vehicles to compare. so say it gives an engine another 50K...that's awesome...but if the original engine life is at say....50K...who keeps their bike for over 50K? so when you add life to the engine...what exactly is it for?
this also applies to cars...which go 100K easy...but who keeps it for that long? the majoriy of people do not.
