Removing spark plugs
Thanks guys, in that last picture, it's those little circular "caps" with the black edges and white tops with writing.
I'll just wiggle them off the next time I'm in there. I just didn't want to break anything, so I backed off.
Incognito, didn't even think about the manual.
And chuckbear, don't tempt me to start dropping the ban hammer on myself!!!

This worked great! I was able to use all the stock tools. Navigating the caps with the frame in the way wasn't very hard at all. Just a pain to get to them having to take off the airbox and all.
I just took mine out to check them. I don't have a factory tool so I used a spark plug socket and short extension with a universal swivel. The socket rubber wasn't holding the plugs, so I stuck my telescopic magnet in the hole and plucked them out. Pretty simple, but I went under the air box.
I think you should have a Chilton/Clymers manual for every vehicle that you own. As soon as I got my bike, I ordered the manual. Did not touch a thing until I at least scanned it from front to back, read the maintenance section, reviewed the tools and tips. As I did my mods, I kept the manual out and constantly looked at it while working. I also keep my digital camera handy adn take photos of everything BEFORE I remove a nut/bolt. Makes install that much easier. And then if something goes wrong,, you can take it to the bike shop and say ' I need one of these'.
