Default Rear seat/trunk

Hey guys I just noticed on my f4i that I can take off the rear seat by prying it with my fingers is that normal? I inspected the trunk latch and it looks like it doesnt stick out very much to lock in the rear seat securely. I have no other f4i to compare to so was just wondering if anybody else shares a similar problem. I was thinking of putting in an alarm system and the trunk is where it usually would go but if the seat can be removed that easily, seems kinda pointless.

That is not normal. The trunk latch should lock the rear seat in place and only come off when the key is turned. Your rear seat may go flying when youre riding. It could be a defective trunk latch.

Well the lock still works sorta. I can put the rear seat on and turn the key and it will hold in place and won't budge under normal riding but if I yank with all my strength it comes off. I took a picture of the latch today and it looks like this...

anyway the green circled part is where the trunk latch is and should it be normal for the latch to be in that position?

I know what you mean if you have the same problem I had. Adjust the latch and it should be fine. Check for anything loose.

I usually have to whack the rear seat when I set it in place, otherwise mine does that too. Could be a stretched morse cable.

Put a little bit of wd-40 on it to loosen up the mechanism, that will probably help. And don't yank on it if you don't have to... 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
