You do know that other HONDA engines also uses a CCT, right?

Considering how the 929RR was out at the same time the F4I, they might actually share a few parts Might not be exactly the same part number, but they do have a CCT, and I am sure that the sound of a BAD CCT on a F4I is VERY similar (if not the same) the the sound of a bad CCT on a 929RR.

Here is a list of HONDA motorcycles sporting a CCT, for those that didn't know:
CBR600F ('86-'90)
CBR600F2 ('91-94)
CBR600RR (2003 - 09)
CBR1000RR ('04-'07)
CBR600F3 ('95-98)
CBR600F4/F4i
CBR900RR
1100XX BLACKBIRD
CBR929 / 954
SUPERHAWKHT1000VTR
CBR1000 (2008-2009)

are you sure that your sprockets and chain are the same width?

edit - i'd replace the chain, it's always a good idea to do so when you change sprockets. i believe your problem is this so called tight spot in your chain

also, all bikes with chain driven overhead cams will have a cam chain tensioner; honda or otherwse. just because they all have them doesn't mean they make the same noise when they go out.

my brothers xr650l has an internal cct that is a curved flat rod that uses spring pressure to apply tension to the chain runner
if it went out i'm sure i'd be hearing that spring making some kind of god awful noise, probably very different from the can of bbs noise an f4i makes

bwayers - well #1 i am pretty sure zero and myself were just eluding to the fact that he was asking a question about a 929 in the F4i section and i sure as hell don't have an extensive knowledge of the 929 to help him out at all and #2 yes the sprockets are the same width and i am 2 steps ahead of you with the chain because its a brand new chain too i replaced it all as a set and that's the only way id do it but i looked at it yesterday and everything is looking the way it should i have even wear on the inside of the chain links i have even wear on the face of the sprockets and the chain tracks straight when i sight my eye down it. but i think ill give the chain one more chance and just clean it, readjust it, re grease it and if that doesn't fix my problem im going straight for the CCT next lol

Argh LOL!

Yes, I agree, a CCT from your your brothers XR650l will probably sound very different to the one on the F4I.

With that said, I believe the ones I mentioned originally WILL sound about the same, given that they use the SAME design

No brother, you got it backwards

I OWN a F4I, the person had a 929 back in the days, and he had to replace the CCT on his.

I took my cctl out and it looked just like the one I put in... only the new one didn't raddle when installed. What I mean is I couldn't tell my old one was bad by looking at it.

And if it is not the cclt, you'll have a spare to put in when the new one goes out I can hear mine starting to rattle again Not bad enough to change it out... but I know it will get louder soon
