Some knowledgeable people on this forum and then there are those ignorant ones. Just because its "Race Fuel" Doesnt mean its for your high performance bike.
To put it simply, you want to use the lowest octane you can get away with. Yes theese bikes where made for 86 and not 91+, The engineeres made the engine, ignition tables and fuel mixtures for just that. Unless your bike can Advance its timming A LOT, you have higher compression, or like mentioned above...something is causing your engine to knock, Dont bother. There is also more energy per gallon in 86 vs 91 etc.
Also, LEAD is an O2 Sensor killer, not only that, but none of your fuel system was designed for the Lead, your fuel pump, injectors, lines etc will suffer.
As for compression ratio, its not just that. Compression is just ONE of the variables, you have to take into account the chamber design, ignition timming, operating temps etc.
