Default Question about Vibrations and High RPMs

So the F4i is my first bike so I have nothing to compare it to. Also, I may not have made the best decision on buying the most mechanically perfect bike for sale. I have already found several mechanical problems from the previous owner that he didn't tell me about. Well anyway, I was wondering what it feels like for other F4i owners (with perfect F4is) to be pushing the engine above 8k to the redline. I guess what I'm asking is what is it SUPPOSED to feel like? I rarely ever crack open the throttle but today I tried for the first time after not being able to ride for a month and I felt some horrible vibrations and was wondering if that was normal. It kind of felt like the engine was about to explode from underneath me so I backed off. Is it supposed to feel smooth all the way through? Or are the vibrations normal? Thanks.

I've never felt like the motor was going to explode out from under me at any RPM... I dunno, but if this is your first bike - you may just not be used to the feeling? I think the feeling of vibration is pretty normal. If you start hearing weird sounds and stuff, then I'd start to worry... or if there's some kind of loss of power.. or erratic operation... I do notice that on my F4i and I've also heard from other owners that they sound like crap at 5500 RPM or so... something about the cam chain tensioner (I think that's what it's called).. pretty normal for F4i's

30,000 miles. Hmm I hope I'm just not used to the vibrations and that all is well.

these bikes love 8k+ rpm and thats where they want to be. The faster the parts in the motor move, the more stability and gyroscopic effect the bike has. You may want to get the opinion of a professional mechanic. Maybe check your wheels and insure they are balanced properly.

Theres definitely more vibration at the 5k ish range as a previous poster pointed... but I mainly notice it in the first gear... once I shift into 2nd... it seems to be smooth till at least 8k (havent gone past that yet )

Being a drivability issue, it's subject to opinion... we absolutly, positively cannot give you a truthful answer without riding your bike. Anyone that says otherwise is lying. What you should do is take your bike to your local Honda dealer and have them take it for a quick spin to see if it's normal.
