Pulling the engine
According to my service manual, I need two special Honda tools in order to drop the motor out. One being a clutch hub holder($180) and a special lock nut wrench($73). Does anyone know of a more realistic tool I could use as an alternative? I'm trying to pull everything out in order to replace my tranny internals. Thanks for any advice.
If you remove the clutch basket before dropping the engine you dont need the holder. Remove the clutch cover, put the transmission in 6th gear, put a piece of a 2x4 in the rear wheel to stop it from turning and remove the clutch. The lock nuts for the frame are a bitch without the tool, but you can grind a 30 or 32 mm socket with a dremel to fit the profile or turn the nuts counterclockwise with a screwdriver and hammer. Hope this helped, if you need any help once you get in there just post, i'll be watching. I've had every nut and bolt out and back in several times. Three things that are very important, don't scratch the bores when you split the cases ,when you reassemble use assembly lube, and most important use a torque wrench don't guess!!!
