Default Possible Tranny Problem

Hey,
I have noticed a problem that happens occasionally and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced it. This issue only happens when I am really taking off from a stop, damn near full throttle. It also only seems to happen when shifting 2nd to 3rd. And it doesn't happen all the time. Actually rarely, and when I don't expect it, which makes me think that it is my fault. This only happens when I shift without the clutch, too.
...Anyway, what happens is when up-shifting 2nd to 3rd, sometimes it doesn't fully engage in 3rd. It seems like it is stuck inbetween 2nd and 3rd. Since it doesn't catch and I'm cranking on the throttle, the engine revs high like in neutral and it makes a bit of a grinding noise. Does this sound like a problem, or am I just stupid and inattentive and only LAZILY tap it towards 3rd not fully engaging it? I'm just trying to prepare for repair before Spring. Thank you all!

you're hitting a false neutral. usually happens when you don't shift into the gear hard enough but just lazily do it...

I've had this happen as well, but for me it's usually between 4 and 5. This topic has been posted a number of times froma variety of people, so my assumption is that it's a common "feature" of the F4i tranny. I've learned that when I get up around these gears to be very deliberate when shifting, to pull in the clutch all the way, and to pull the shifter very hard.

yo mang...it'll shift even without clutch...idea is to shift like a mang...and go BAM and BAM and BAM and BAM through all the gears....like a toughass badass mawfaki and not some sissy that goes 'blah' and 'blah' and 'blah' and 'oops, false neutral' ok mang?

do it like bad **** ok? if still jacked, then you gots problems.

Cool, as long as it is just my laziness and not a problem. It never happens when I shift aggressively and fully. I'm sure though that doing it to much will grind something in the tranny down to nothing!
