Possible Seized Engine/Trans?
Hey guys, lowsided the bike on Sunday in the canyons and dislocated my shoulder. Doh!
It went down on the left side. The frame slider took most of the damage luckily. The rear fairing is broken, and the engine cover/case is a little scratched up. I took the left side apart, and there was a bit of oil in the left intake vent. There seems to be ventilation from the head into the lower part (pre-filter part) of the airbox. I think when the bike was laying on it's side oil came up through there and went into the intake duct.
The battery seems low, as when I try and crank it, the fuel pump runs but the dash goes out before it will turn the motor over. I tried pushstarting it down my driveway, moving at a good pace (faster then I've needed to pushstart it before) and in 1st and 2nd when I left the clutch out, the back tire just locks up completely. It seems as if the motor or trans is seized. it rolls in neutral, and rolls when it is in gear w/ the clutch engaged.
Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the shifter got hit and smacked a shift fork/something on the inside of the trans...? I don't see why the engine would seize. It shut off as soon as it was on it's side I THINK. I appreciate any insight.
Anyways, couple weeks ago when the bike and I were both in 1 piece

I'll check it out tomorrow, unfortunately I am 1 armed for a little while
Luckily I have a spare f4i engine (with like 40k miles on it
) but I will have to swap that if my engine is toast. How intense of a job is that? I am very mechanically inclined with cars, never really played with bike engines though. Seems relatively simple.
after you get your arm working again its not all that hard to do a straight swap
