Default Polishing Rims

Hola. About a year ago a stripped the black wall off my rims. I only did the outer edge so i have a black rim with the polished lip. Does anyone know of a clear coat that can be put on the aluminum to keep it from getting that molding effect? I usually wet sand and then polish them with Mother's but I have not had the time lately.

Is there any way to keep them from oxidizing. My bike and black and red and I have this sick idea to put a blue pinstripe on the wheel too.

You can buy a clear coat at autozone that goes on rims but I just polish my car wheels every so often to keep them looking great.

What did you use to strip the lip? Regular masking tape and metal stripper?

i used masking tape and aircraft stripper. aircraft stripper can be bought at walmart in the auto paint section. if you want to do a good job and make it easy i recommend first wet-sanding the area u want to polish with 1500 grit paper. this will get all the junk off the rim and take off the outer coat of paint. then, spray the stripper on the metal and spread it manually with a toothbrush. let is sit for about 10 mintues and wipe if off with a damp towel. don't get it on the tire.

wear gloves and glasses. the stuff burns on your hand (its acidic). it took me about an hour per wheel with the wheel still on the bike. mine is the best i've seen. honestly, i think it is because i sanded the wheel first then used the stripper.

Brancart1, i polished mine too and photos can be seen in my gallery. I polished them up to the center point of the rim. Just for another option.
