Polishing rims?
Does anyone know the correct way to polish rims? Im not quite sure on what types of sandpaper grid I need and other tools to properly get the job done right but i would like to attemt to do it myself and save money. I don't plan on doing to spoke's on the rims only the lip. Anyone have any great suggestions please let me know, thanks...
Do a search on "Polishing Rims" and you will find that there are quite a few links out there and/or info on how to do it. I did mine myself and put a post up in the DIY section back in February. Good luck!
well the metal under the coating would be good old aluminum. I have polished rims on my bike that i did myself and i started with aircraft stripper (you can get it at Autozone, Walmart, etc.), 80 grit sandpaper, 220, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, and 2000. After the 2000 grit sandpaper i used white jewlers rouge with a dremel to really bring out the shine. Alot of people think my rear rim is chrome (front rim is kinda crappy as i rushed it). i'll post pics later if anyone would like.
