Piteck Undertail
Ok, finally got it and installed it last night. I'll get better pics maybe tomorrow during the day. Sorry about the quality of the pics. BUT here's my opinions:
First off, they sent the wrong undertail, gave me **** about returning it, took it back, forget to send me another one and refused to paint it 2006 blue after they said they would. Finally got the right one, and after much thought, I'll keep the black one I received because it's a cool contrast. Lights are fine and very cool (blinkers are integrated), however the brake lights VS running lights are almost identical; there's a flicker of difference when the brakes are applied. Material seems a bit brittle, but I don't fiberglass that isn't. Paint is good. Lights are "glued" in to seal, I assume. Overall install time: less that one hour. (1/2 hour was spent trying to get the lock secure)
I have three complaints:
1) the lock hole they pre-drill on the undertail is missing the "notch" the lock needs to keep it in place. So when the lock is installed in this "hole", and you use it, it spins round and round.
Solution: Used mini lock ties to hold that bitch in place by tieing it to a metal bar. (pics below do not show it yet)
2) the wheel well portion of the undertail hangs down 3 1/2 finger width from the undertray above it. So I have to stiffen up my rear suspension to keep the tire from rubbing it if I hit a bump. **yes, the undertray was cut enough**
Solution: There is none-- yet. I'm scratching my head.
3) The wires that attach to the lights are like 30 guage wire or some thin ****.
It works, I'm pleased.
I'm a bit worried about the undertray wheel well merging into the undertail well. There's a BIG gap there and will brush water and **** up into my truck area if I'm not careful. I don't think it's supposed to hang down, is it? I'm probably just being **** and it's fine.

RE: Piteck Undertail
hey--i've got the SAME undertail on my '05, though i had a SLIGHTLY better experience with those guys. mine is silver and it came silver the first time (lucky me i guess). heres what i did with that gap--cut that undertray bitch damn near all the way down to your subfram bar so you'll have almost a 2 inch gap. then either find someone in town that does fiberglass fabrication or do it yourself (i paid a woman 40 bucks to do it, took her 1 hour, real easy) and have them fiberglass over that gap or otherwise go to autozone and buy fiber cloth and resin then lay it over the gap then after its done coat it with "plasti-dip" spray can to hide the ugly fiberglass resin. mine looks great and it fixed that problem up right. i'll tell you though you might want to consider some additional turn signals because my buddy was behind me the other day and told me that the turn signals aren't visible for **** during the day, and hes right, so i moulded 3 LEDs into my tail section on each side for signals and wired them up. as for the lock hole, take some epoxy and put it around the base of the black plate that came off your stock fender, that holds mine VERY solidly.....hope that helps, PM me if you've got questions or want any other ideas for it

RE: Piteck Undertail
Thanks for posting this followup with your experience, I think it will definitely help others with their decisions.
From what I've gathered.
PITECK
-Base price between $100 and $145.
-Shipping $10
Plus up to another $40 finding someone to do additional fiberglass work to close gaps.
TOTAL: Between $150 and $195
Pros:
-In theory cheaper, but not if you have to pay to get glass work, or paint.
Cons:
- Fitment apparently blows
- Service sucks
Hotbodies
- Base price between $190 and $200
- Shipping $10-20
TOTAL: Between $200 and $220
Pros:
- Abs plastic much tougher than fiberglass.
- Fit, finish and build quality.
- Can be gotten from many different sources so cust service will vary.
There is one on eBay from "Extreme Bike" I'm curious about. Unpainted, $85 buy it now price. Has anyone put one of these on, how was the fit?
