PC III :) Now puttering :(
Installed a PC III this morning... man it's amazing to see those displays turn when you turn the throttle My two gadgets were talking and it was great :P
loaded the standard map for scorpion exhaust. Seemed to make the engine smoother and take out the low-rpm reluctance. Overall good fun on a morning ride
Then changed the oil & filter this evening, lubed the chain... gear shifts are again like butter.Washed the bike clean with cleaner and hosed it with water.
But later took it out for a 20 miles ride or so and it started having these pulsations in the exhaust instead of a smooth rumble... Right when I changed from engine braking to slight acceleration -
while trying to keep constant speed on uneven terrain, at a certain power point while changing between soft acceleration and deceleration.
The puttering/sputtering goes away when I take it to higher rpms (>5k), but if I try to speed up when it's sputtering it seems to really bog down for a second. Once I almost felt the engine shake due to uneven firing.
Could this be the PC III messing things up? I've had some mileage problems and then slight low end power-shortage problems for a while now so I'm inclined to think that the PC III is only precipitating something thats already a problem.
My exhaust also strongly smells of gas while starting the bike... along with some white smoke... this is before and after PC III
Sorry for the long post. I could have probably just said something like 'A cylinder is not firing' but I wanted to give more symptoms...
What to do?

RE: PC III :) Now puttering :(
Oh and the bike is at 15k, I've done the 12k service myself including changing plugs, air filter. I checked valve springs recently (or thought I did - basically opened the airbox, turned the throttle and tried to put pressure on each of the butterflies to see how it opens/closes... seemed as it should be for all)
Thanks guys

PC's are known to cause some problems to people for some reason. try unplugging the PC and ride the bike around for a while. If problem's gone, yeah it's the PC. e-mail the makers about it, maybe faulty. If problem doesn't go away when you unplug it, then you may be in for a huge bill. You could be having much bigger problems than a faulty PC. Let's hope it's simply the PC.
update us when you find out what happens.

I'd blame the PCIII or you getting something wet. The Honda stuff works, the Honda Stuff always works, that is why I love Honda's. I'd blame the aftermarket stuff or you messing with something Honda did.
edit:
Are you losing coolant? White smoke can be a water/coolant thing. Was your oil 'milky' before you changed it? White smoke is never good.
edit:
white smoke

Make sure you have it connected properly and have a GOOD map in it. That means getting it tuned by someone that knows what they're doing. The wrong map will make it run BAD.
