Default Opinions on this bike.

Hey all! Still looking for a bike. Been looking a few months now. This one popped up recently. I know it's high mileage, but I wasn't sure what you guys thought of it?

2002 Honda CBR 600 F4i, LOTS of Upgrades, CHEAP, OBO!

I don't want anything fancy, in case the bike gets laid down. So I'm okay cosmetically if the bike isn't perfect. Mechanically - what should I look for? What maintenance records should I ask for? It's OBO - What kind of price do you think would be fair?

Thanks ahead of time!

i wouldnt buy it.. just by looking the fairing on the picture the bike is in bad condition... as for the upgrade.. nothing impressive.. tire need remplacement, chain, probably sprocket.. exhaust seem to be the cheap one they sell on ebay

For $3200 id laugh in his face and offer him no more than 2500 or look for another bike. I mean this one is semi-decent and for a first bike itd certainly do well and the woodcraft rearsets are nice, rotors and lines add some value, the polished wheels add value depending on buyer...but the cbr heelguards look like ***, the exhaust looks homemade or cheap ebay, the flushmounts are cheap ebay, the 40k miles, the need to replace the back tire, the tight spots in the chain, and the fact that he says the fluids need to be changed seriously detract value and possibly indicate that the bike hasnt been maintained or cared for properly. 40k on a bike is just fine thats been maintained properly but 40k on a bike thats been treated like this one appears to been have treated isnt good. YOure gonna need to put at least a couple hundred dollars into the bike so unless you can get it for real cheap dont waste your time.

Thank you. I appreciate your opinion. The upgrades weren't anything special to me, but I figured if it was a decent bike then it was fine with me. Another thing that kinda threw a red flag a few minutes ago for me was that I was able to talk him down $500.00 in one email. I wasn't trying to low ball him, but I offered him what I thought it was worth at that point given it's condition. I'm pretty sure some "upgrades" here in MD will cause it to fail inspection.

Theres no way I'd pay 3200 for it like it sits, which is what I told him. I asked if was able to obtain maintenance records - so if that pulls through I'll give it another thought. If not, I'll definitely be passing.
