OEM Key blanks?

OEM Key blanks?
Hi guys. Does anybody have a source for oem blank keys for an 03 f4i? Can they be cut easily or am I going to have a hard time finding someone/ somewhere that can duplicate the original?
I was given an OEM blank with the bike but it's gone missing so I'd like to get another and get it cut.. and not lose it.
Ps. I did google this and couldn't figure out if I actually do need the key code or not if I have an original that can be copied. Some people are saying the code is on the bike either around the ignition or near the tail lock or under the gas tank but I can't find any definitive answers.

you can buy a cheapo key blank from eBay for $1.50 and it will work fine (i have one and been using it for almost a year now)
your best bet to get it cut is any local locksmith that will actually do it the old way, if u go to Walmart, CanadianTire or Sears their new cutters wont do it cause they dont have a die for it.

The only thing with OEM is that they have a copper core, I think.. well, they aren't steel all the way through in any case. Some places can't cut the keys properly because of that. Like the above have stated, any decent locksmith or key cutter can copy it. You only need the key code if you've lost all keys.
BTW, take it easy with imitations, I've seen plenty of them snap in the fuel cap.

Thanks for the replies guys very helpful!!
My existing key doesn't work very well in the gas tank. I kind of have to fiddle with it to get it open. I'm wondering if maybe I should just try to order one based on the code, maybe the one I have is really worn and won't make a great template for a copy? If that's the case, how do I go about locating the code for the key?
Thanks again.

It's kind of a pain because the bolts holding in the ignition cylinder are one-way bolts designed to deter theft. Anyways, I've seen people manage with a regular allen head and a lot of muscle or drilling them out. They're located from underneath and it's easiest to just take off the top triple or bridge and flip it upside down. Once you have the ignition cylinder removed you'll see a 3-6 digit alpha numeric code like 6ga blah blah or something like that engraved on the side. Oh yeah, there's a wiring harness coming from it, but you just have to unclip it.
