Odd noise when throttle is off
A new noise has recently started to pop up. It's a kind of scratchy rattling whenever I'm going over ~40-45mph and I take the throttle off and cruise (clutch isn't pulled in btw) When I pull in the clutch it stops making the noise.
It isnt a steady regular noise it's kind of uneven, random-ish. It doesn't have a metallic ring to it, sounds almost like someone dragging their heels as they walk.
Any ideas? I'm a noob having been riding for about 2 months and I'm still learning mechanical know-how, any help would be appreciated.

if it vanishes when you pull in the clutch, id look at your clutch or some major parts related to the clutch. id check out whats under the clutch cover to make sure everythings fine. take it to a professional if you dont have the mechanical know-how. otherwise you're gonna screw stuff up digging into it yourself.

yeah probably a clutch issue, especially if it's a high mileage bike.
however, if your chain is very loose it could repeatedly slap your swingarm when letting off the throttle. chain slack is an easy thing to check before digging further. is the sound coming from the left or right side of the bike?
