Of course its supposed to save 'em. ;-) Check you wiring connections/plugs. Also, if you're so inclined, check & clean the pins on the back of the gauges. Otherwise, you'll have to get used to the way it is.

what that sounds like is your losing power to the cluster is after you turn the key off. i would get a meter out and test for voltage on the red/green wire on the i think the black 9p connector..... sound like you might not have constant power to the cluster check the ground to it could be loose.....

primary ground at the starter see if it moves otherwise it's hard to get to..
check the ground near the radiator and the ground under the tank and seat area....

normally have constant power then receive main power when you turn the key...
i think you are only getting the main power.... good luck

that is on top of what gotcbr said...

wiring diagram in service manual will help a great amount

for the 2 plugs one is temp,speed,ign,illum+,bat+,f1nd-(cant read it) and tacho the other one is oil-,turn r+,Hi beam+,neutral-,turn L+, (.), sensor-,res sensor, and side stand,

i think the 2nd group of wires is the black plug but the ? is which wire is for memorey which is not stated

When wired correctly, the clock will save the time as long as the battery is alive.

I have an 02 F4i and my clock remains on even with the key out of the ignition. That is normal so just check your mileage and trip and you may have solved your problem!
