dude, everyone has to start out somewhere, they didnt buy there bike and right away start wheeling. Dont worry what they can or cant do worry about yourself, your safety etc. Seriously learn to ride some more and then start doing all the wheelies you want, but when you go down on your 06 with only 400 miles of exp your going to be pretty pissed. then how will you feel when your friends or other people have nice good looking bikes and yours is all scratched up

I waited 3 months and a whole hell of alot of miles before I did my first wheelie. You need to know how to controll the bike a bit better before you should try controlling it on 1 wheel. If you going to ignore this than I advise you take it gradually. Do low short ones starting off and just work yourself up. You ARE going to end up scaring the **** out of yourself no matter what. And I seriously doubt you are going to be bringing it to the balance point anytime soon unless your just plain stupid.

As for the fun part, It is an adrenaline rush to keep a wheelie up there for a ways and it is fun. You dont have to just settle for riding on two wheels to have fun on a bike although after a while it will get boring. I switched from stunting all the time to riding corners hard because I think its more of an accomplishment to handle the bike at higher speeds in corners than it is to just balance the front wheel.

Do what you feel like you wanna do but do know that even the best go down. Theres riders that have gone down and riders that are gonna go down. Its just a matter of time.

Your on the wrong forum for wheelie help man. But for reals, you are a moron if you want to start wheelies so quickly. You say you have ridden bikes before but by that im guessin just when someone hands you keys. Your a moron if you go out and do wheelies that early on you might not die but your bike will end up trashed im sure a show like that will defiantly impress your friends and me too so get some film

you should really get use to how ur bike handles before you start doing tricks on it. You need to know how it performs in low speeds and high speeds very well and have excellent control of the bike or else you'll just crash the crap out of it.

You will crash. Don't do em yet. Go find a sweet *** private road with some nice corners, a huge college parking lot, or someplace and take some fast corners. That ****'s crazy fun. Not flat out scary like trying wheelies too early and wrapin it around too high or tankslappin. (front wheel lands in a totally different line than the rear, the bike tries to correct and you go down. HARD)

Get to know your bike. If you plan on regularly going 150, regularly practice emergency braking from that speed.

Practice locking the rear wheel up a bunch of times so that when it happens (it WILL) on the expressway, you know the feeling.

But DONT get your jollies off riding wheelies so soon. Wait til next riding season, and start slow. As stated above: LEARN TO RIDE! Then RIDE TO LEARN. Then maybe act like an idiot.

Advice from a former idiot.

ORIGINAL: snowboarding82

I've got 270miles on it and I'd like to start trying wheelies.
Your brand new bike isn't even broken in yet and you want to do wheelies. That is retarded. Buy a trashed gixxer, put on a corona tank top and flip flops and then go crash trying to do a wheelie on the freeway. Maybe you can give the F4i to someone who actually deserves to ride it.

Thanks to those with the helpful advice but some of the posts made some people sound like Fing Aholes. Anyway thanks again!! =)
