Default Noob tire question

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I'm about to order a new set of PP2CTs and saw that our bikes use 55-ZR17 and I found 55-17 tires, is there a difference between

180/55-ZR17

and

180/55-17

Does the ZR make a difference or is it the same thing?

Thanks guys

Most of the time those letters in front of that number means the type of sidewall used on the tire. Typically, most people ignore it. I may also be wrong here, but I think ZR means it's a sportier tire.

These are what I just put on my bike for daily riding:

the z is the speed rating (up to 150mph) the r just means radial...witch all tires now are radial...unless you go vintage and get bias ply...

in other words they are the same... if they are the same type of tire...pp2ct...those are zr..
just the person typing it in over looked it or got lazy...lol...

i still believe michelin makes the best tires out... but i don't test tires and have not tried all the tires out there....

Awesome, thanks a lot for the replies guys. I'm currently running the Battlax BT-003 front and rear but thought I'd switch to the PP2CT's.

@G3NESYS- I'm actually ordering off of motorcyclesuperstore! I've checked out a few places like kneedraggers, and revzilla, but I haven't found any places that have them as cheap as MCS does.

Stoked for the new riding season!!

Hah that's awesome! Yea here in Colorado its been pretty much the same, a few days of teaser weather followed by freezing weather the following weeks. But it'll clear up soon and everyone should be back on 2 wheels in no time.

P.S

If you haven't picked up your tires yet, 303cycle has some really good deals on tire sets. All of their prices are actually cheaper than motorcyclesuperstore, free shipping too. Since they're local here in Colorado I'll probably just buy from them, and have them mount them at the special rate. You should check them out

Theres no such thing as a non-ZR rated pilot series motorcycle tire, they just didn't include that info in the listing.
