Hey guys..my friend is experiencing the same sort of thing.....at 5 - 7 thousand RPM's theres like a ticking type noise but to me it sounds like a vibration type noise kinda from around the upper fairing stay.....and it doesnt do anything if its revved up through smoothly but if you hold the throttle right at 5-7 it is most pronounced. Any ideas?

Ive got the same problem, its a ticking and a quiet whirring noise up to about 5k rmps, but after that I cant hear it anymore. My bike only has 10,XXX miles, so its probabally not valves.

Wow, somebody mentions the word ticking and everyone gets all hysterical, lol.
so it turns out that the noise is coming from the crankcase or crankshaft or something. I took it to a shop and thats where they narrowed down the sound to. Anyone know what it can be because theyre gna take it apart tomorrow and see whats up.
Any word on the diagnosis? I'm kinda curious myself.

it was a couple things leading to one noise. It was something with the crankshaft bearing, timing chain had to be replaced, and valves needed adjustment. All came out to $150 only because it was my friends shop. I didnt bother going into detail with him. He finished in one whole day of work. I started my bike no sound. It actually had alot more power because he said it was loosing compression before. So now its all good
