the only difference in a 2ct pilot and a regular pilot is the last 20% of the outer edge(the 2ct is softer). If someone crashed they didnt wait for the tire to get warm.Lots of peaple blame the tires when its something they did.

Pick a tire and install it,most name brands out there are better than 98% of the riders anyway. If you can find the limit of a tire on the street you are riding way beyound a safe limit and should take it to the track.

I personally have used pilot power road 2ct's,dunlop 207's,dunlop qualifiers, pirelli supersports,bt-016's and bt-002's. Never found the limit to ANY OF THEM.

If you commute a lot and want a good tire for the hills, the bt-016 and road 2ct is a good choices. The rest are good choices if you mainly run around town and to the hills.

Besides the 002's(which are on my rr) i have gotten 6k plus miles out of all of my tires.

Tires warm up based on tire pressures and friction(braking). The sides cant warm up faster than the middle.

The "weaving" a lot of guys do, does NOT warm the tires up,braking and riding is the only thing that will warm tires up (besides tire warmers).

right I agree and know about how tire pressure and flex heat up the tire. I think the weaving can help because it flexes the tire. But if the 2ct are dual compound tires, and the outsides are softer wouldnt that heat up easyier?? You would think that that harder compound would be harder to heat up? Hmmm

Pilot Powers are great tires, but I recently switched to Dunlop Roadsmarts. They are cheaper, feel just as good (if not better) in the curves, they stick well and they will last longer than the Pilots. I have been pessimistic about Dunlops in the past, but I think that these are the best tires a street rider can get.

For those of you who doubt they will handle well enough, here is a photo of a friend of mine with Roadsmarts on his bike in a turn:

I currently have Bridgestone BT 014's on my bike and love them. I ride twisties alot never have had them let loose at all. My next pair are going to be the BT 016's.

regular pilot powers are THE BEST.
Can't agree with this one. My tires get up to temp even in the winter here. I have no arrow or michelin man on the edges and I scrape my pegs so I know Im leaning over enough to find out. When I had a normal pilot power on the rear I could get it to step out with throttle in a turn. I haven't had that happen yet with the 2ct.

+ On the PP 2CT's. Super sticky. Buddy ran them on his race bike a full season. I've got them on my 954 (which I did lots of track days on, scraped the pegs and farings and never lost traction). Have Pilot Power Race Compound on my 600; don't recommend for street because of the wear, but they are amazingly sticky!
