Default New guy!!!

Hello, my name is Muhamed which you prolly dont care. I just joined the forum but I have always read stuff on here, a lot of useful information. I gotta serious question which i don know if im posting on the right section but it is about a CBR 600 F4I. Im picking one up this saturday and i read on the forum someone ask this question before. I DON WANT NOTHING THAT HAS BEEN LAYED DOWN, how will i make sure of it. I mean i read and searched everywhere so i got somewhat clue on what to mainly check. the pictures look legit and really clean, and ofcourse he says its never been down and i have trust in people about 10 percent these days. Its 2002 honda cbr f4i with 9k miles on it. i appreciate all the input

Hints that a bike's been down? Hmmm:
  • Stator cover is newer than the rest of the bike
  • Evidence of frame sliders having been on the bike (holes in the fairings) but no frame sliders (but could be removed cause he thought they looked ugly)
  • Cockeyed headlight (the fairing stay is butterrific and bends easily)
  • Scratched bar ends (could be from a n00b drop tho)

'Custom' paints are iffish. Some people will change their bike's paint just because. Others cause of road rash. But a big tell will be inside the fairings. Fiberglass repairs to fairings can't be hidden on the inside of the fairings. Dunno how but there is a way to pull a 'carfax' on motorcycles too.

Welcome aboard Muhamed. If you want to give your name, people will prolly use it round here. They're friendly that way

Any scratched metal. kinda hard to repair that short of replacing it.

Welcome aboard too. As long as you don't go dropping some serious noob questions, we won't murder you

Not original paint, looks to be in good visual shape. What are they asking for it...and i dont see a problem with buying a bike that has been down, i bought mine and it runs perfect...just got a scratched up stator cover.

that bike looks really good, i like the color. my bike was that color when i bought it, the guy said it was original, and the platiscs were orange on the backside too and said honda on them with part numbers and stuff. so i dunno, but i dont think it could be an original color, theres no decals i dunno

hey man welcome to the forum...

from the pics u had posted ide say the bike hasnt been laid down, the only thing that would throw me in the other direction is the fact that it for sure has been repainted or had the fairings replaced. But that doesnt mean it has been laid down perhaps they just wanted something different... also laying a bike down isnt really gonna hurt the bike unless it was at high speeds or had some flip action going. So even if a bike has been tipped over or such dont rule it out right away....

Welcome again
