Default need some input on crash cage

So i have been looking to getting frame sliders but after talking to a guy about them at my msf course he told me a story about his buddy where his crash cage/stunt cage whatever you want to call it saved his leg in an accident. some lady had been parallel parked and backed out into the road and he hit her, the right side of the bike clipped the bumber and when it got to the cage it threw him off and mostlikely saved his leg. another one of his friends got tboned and his leg didnt get crushed because of the cage he had. he said it came up along the fairing and was pretty low profile. anyone have any ideas about the kind he was talking about? that arnt super expensive.. or if you think this is a dumb idea let me know. im looking forward to everyones input and stories to come. thanks

A crash cage might save you in a couple very specific situations, but it could make things worse in a number of others. IMHO, I wouldn't buy one unless you were planning on stunting.

Cages and sliders are all basically designed to protect the bike not you.

Generally, I've never considered the possibility as a safety device. I could see a possible utility in a few specific instances, as mentioned. Better served by being more alert, though.

Como's got the gist of it, as I understand. Sliders for street apps, cages for stunting.

Cages can (and will) scrape on turns if you get low on your bike. Too much contact will change the two points of your bike touching the ground and one tire and one crash cage when your bike is moving 40mph at a 30 degree angle is not a real good combination for traction

(Crash cages can cause crashes...)
