RE: need help with title problem
In the State of Maryland, Salvage does not necessarily equate to wrecked. My bike has been wrecked but I have clear title. A bike will get Salvage title IF it has flood damage, wrecked and sold to a Salvager or Salvage Auction by an insurance company, or a theft recovery where there was an insurance claim paid. I've learned from that, that buyers cannot be certain when purchasing a used bike. Important thing is that the bike performs/behaves as designed and is not devalued.

All a salvage title means is that someone laid it down and claimed insurance on it.. if that insurance claim = more then the worth of the bike *very easy to do* they total the bike out and give it a salvage tittle.
you can repair that title pretty easy if your state allows it,
my dad bought a 2004 919 with 2000 miles on it perfectly restored from the lay down it had and he bought it for 2000 dollars *KBB value is about 5400* he took it to a local shop and they cleared the title for 100 bucks
just depends if you can do it or not

So; the same guy that told us to spell out the words correctly is the same person that is telling us how to scheme our titles. Interesting.
I dont know how other states manage their titles nor how they issue changes in the certificate. However, I am surprized that a shop can do some changes to a title without the state title bureau's approval. Only way I know about doing a clean title, which I'll never do is by swaping vins.
What state are you from lockless?
I like you subtle hints ROjer!! Lets be friends, no?

im not worried about it aslong as i can register it. like i said its wierd only carfax is saying any thing about it. in nys though a salvage title is always a salvage title or rebuildable. it just sorta sucks i paid same for a bike that was messed up as i would have for a perfectly good bike. i got to say thought the bike is Ultra clean it almost looks new besides a scratch in a graffic

There is NOTHING wrong with what I posted. That is what you have to do to get the bike able to ride on the road. you need a shop that is certified by the state to check the bike over and say that everything that was wrong with it, is fixed. if it is you can issue a repaired clean title for that bike. some states you just have to ALSO go through the DMV, Texas you dont Just the shop.
perfectly fine way to do it.
