I've never took the exhaust off to change the rear brakes. I just take a large screwdriver n use to to force the caliper piston back. Then I remove the rear retaining pin and then rotate the caliper forward, up off the rotor. The remove the remaining pin holding the pads in, and then clean everything up and install the new pads.

The exhaust takes one minute to take off, and it allows you to clean the rear tire much easily. It took me less than ten minutes to take off the front fairing. This isnt all that difficult. If you havnt changed the fluid or pads or dont know how old the fluid is, flush out the brakes. Take off the caliper, use a screwdriver or a large C clamp if you need it to push the pistons back.
