Thumbs down Nail in brand new Tire.

Hey Gang -

so I bought new tires on Saturday. 160 miles on them as of today. Tonight I went to make a quick run to the grocery store, bike felt funny after a few feet. Looked back.

Flat Tire..... found a nail in it. Is an inch and a half - 2 inches off center.

What are my options? Can you patch it? Is that a good idea? Do I have to just suck it up and buy a new one?

Thanks.

I've plugged 2 tires in the past. They all rode fine for up to 8K thereafter

I had somewhat of the same story. Plugged it and it has run solid ever since.

Hmm sounds good - thanks guys. Any suggestions for getting the bike to my local shop?

I have access to my friends truck but not 100% sure how i'd get her in there.

I have 2 plugs in my rear tire right now. Same story as you. Brand new pilot powers with 500 miles at most on them. one screw and one 4 inch nail with in a week apart!! I called a few shops and all of them said they wont do it because of the liability. pu$$ies...

Both plugs have been in for about 2 months and even been to the 1/4 mile strip! Holding strong. Just do them right and use a lot of rubber cement glue, make sure you push the plug in just enough, too much or not enough can be bad.

Eventually i will pull the tire off and plug/patch them but im to lazy right now. Alot of guys will whine about tire plugs but i've never heard a catastrophic plug failure story.

I have a plug in mine right now as we speak in my dunlop. So far 400 miles and going strong. Lots of people said it wont work and its been great. If you dont want it to pull out try to get like saw dust or something and put it over the plug when done to de-sticky that rubber cement. Mine were pre-rubber cemented.
