Default My 02 f4i rebuild project

Well this will be my first bike, first bike project, and my first project thread so we'll see how it goes.

Here's the bike the day i got it home. A little wrecked but nothing a little time and money cant handle.

Here's my first bit of progress of getting the front end apart and ready for the new forks. Also cut the exhaust down from where it was all busted up.

A picture of the hole in the upper case that i filled in with epoxy (we'll see how that holds up) that i didnt discover till i got home with the bike.

I also found that the crank and flywheel are both bent from the impact of whatever this guy hit.

Bummer about the crank and fly. However I don't know about that epoxy. I'd be OK starting the bike with that, but I'd want to replace it asap.

I considered just getting a crank, but then i'd have to buy bearings and gaskets and stuff to get it back going, and im still left with the crappy patch job that cant really be fixed right without an upper case. So long story short it'll be cheaper, easier, and quicker to slap a good used motor in there and let er rip.

That's what I thought but his bike is an 02. Maybe he had a frame swap. It doesn't matter either way I was just being curious

Nah, that is just a mock up picture of the fairings. The frame was painted metallic silver by the previous owner. Im gonna go back with the semi flat black that it originally was. Forks are great! Thanks man

Haha they're a little old and faded. They're just on there to make sure that new upper doesn't go fallin on the ground.
