I shall test your hypothesis really soon, my friend

A tether is fine too but you honestly, won't need it. The only way it will come off is if you drop the bike in which case, you would have better things to worry about.
Do you have a pic? I'm talking about securing gopro attached to the helmet.

No pic at this time. The 3M adhesive works awesome! I have and would trust it with my camera. Many of my rider friends use this too.

your bike is making a funny noise, i've only mounted mine to the tank and haven't picked up a noise like that.
The frame slider is directly connected to the engine. So I imagine it'll pickup sounds we wouldn't normally hear.

Trust me, nothing is wrong with Yolie I don't know about. She has an annoying harmonic rattle at 5k rpm from the steering lock I'm waiting till her service in March to have fixed

Here's a video I threw together from a ride throught Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora ND showing a few mounting locations on my bike. The rear one is a little too far back in my opinion but I use the 3m sticky tabs and they work great. I also use the rubber insert that comes with. I have used the suction cup mount on my windscreen and seems to work pretty good. Hasn't come off yet but this was mainly just around town.

I'm thinking of getting a 1" ball RAM mount (such as pictured) mounted on either the swivel bolt or the silver mirror mounting bolt. Or perhaps something like this: RAM XM Mirror Ball Mount 1" RAM B 252U | eBay

My question is: Do you guys know what type of bolts are these (the silver mounting to the upper stay and the black keeping the mirror arm in place)?

I used a sticky mount on the windscreen right at the bottom where the screen meets the headlights. Very little vibration there.
