Minimum RPM????

Minimum RPM????
I was talking to my shop guy about my 06 4fi and he was telling me that keeping my rpms at 6000+ is better for my bike and for in town riding 45-55 mph I should only need to be in 2nd gear. He also told me that thats usually the benchmark of how many RMS you should keep your bike at. Anyone else have any other suggestions? Maybe it's just me but my f4i at 6000 rpms and in second gear sound like it's spinning my gear too fast.

RE: Minimum RPM????
NOT TRUE! You can ride at as low of RPM's as you want as long as you"re not lugging the engine.....It's a feeling you gain with experience. When you give it some throttle it shouldnt hesitate much. For example you can cruise at 3750 and accelerate gradually without any harm.If you wanna hit the throttle and blast off, you should be at higher revs.

RE: Minimum RPM????
as long as you're not "lugging" the engine you're ok. it is hard on the engine if it is "lugging."
so you can't say " don't go under a certain RPM" because in first and second gear, you can cruise slow at 3k and you're fine. but, if you're in 6th gear cruising at 3k, the bike will probably "lug" a little because it doesn't have the power. know what i'm sayin?

I cruise around town at about 4k rpms. If you are looking for immeadiate power on throttle, you can keep it at 6k rpms. If I need to take off I usually drop it down one or two gears anyways, more fun that way. Now with my VFR I run at 5k, but that's because of the Staintune, sounds so sweet there.
Anyway, lower RPM=less fuel consumed.
