Thumbs down Mechanic savvy? Help a dummy out?

Hey guys, I finally did it -- a stupid moment leading to my very first spill. As you can see from the attached photo, I boogered up my baby pretty badly. This is a photo of the damage on the left side -- what is that cover near the gear shift peg that I shattered so badly?

Stator cover, or occasionally called a left side engine cover or alternator cover by some places.

http://www.hondaparts-direct.com has them for ~$50.

hope u r ok and crank didn't get hit

best thing for escape from such damages are sliders and stator cover defender (steel) recommed, so look this both parts after quite serios flight on race track

Well, I'll spare you (and me) all the details, but...it was basically a re-enactment of Pedrosa on your avatar there 02f4irider. I was in my gear except for jeans so my knee took a shot but is healing quickly...nothing permanent.

Like I said...stupid it was. Definitely looking to add frame sliders. I like what I see of Woodcraft over at SportbikeTrackGear.com.

Thanks guys!

Dang! Better hope you didn't tweak/bend the end of the crank after dropping it on that side & cracking the cover.
Very real possibility.
You'll notice quite the engine vibration when engine is running.
Good luck
