Default Measuring sag

I'm trying to get my suspension tuned as best I can but need some advise...

First of all, how did you measure your rear sag? With a tape measure or what, any tips would be great.

As for the front, I suppose I'll use the zip tie method for measuring but there is no indication to whether I'm close to the end of travel. Does anyone know what the travel is on the forks? Or is there an optimum measurment I should be shooting for?

Also, I'm 5'10" and about 155lb. If any of you are similar size and have had your bike prefessionally tuned or just know what you're doing and have a nice set up than please share your settings.

Thanks for the links... I've already looked at most of those.

Here's the problem, in all of those links they are setting up bikes with inverted forks. As you know, the F4i does not have inverted forks. With the inverted forks there is an obvious stop to its travel (the bottom of the forks) for the F4i's forks there is no obvious end to the travel unless it be the bottom triple which seems too much.

I measured from the the triple clamp to the floor while at normal position, and from the triple clamp to the floor while compressed.

I was under the impression that front preload settings weren't determined by the amount of compression caused by sitting on the bike.
