Followed them to the letter. My hands are not very small so it helped me to take off the entire airbox and disconnect the fuel rail from the gastank. It wasn't THAT difficult but if you are not mechanically inclined it wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world to do. I did not have a swivel (universal joint) at home so I had to just push until my hand was all the way in the hole. The APE was ALOT easier to put on that the Honda one was to get off. Once that thing was off putting the APE on was unbelievably simple to install and adjust. For anyone else putting the APE on your bike just make sure to get all of the old gasket off before you put the new one on.

With regards to the noise that you guys are talking about and the tensioners, maybe you can help diognose this one??
When initially opening the throttle I get a knock or slapping noise, but only at the first squirt of gas then all is smooth, would this be the tensioner??
The bike is an 02 F41, my second season owning it and has 24,000 kms (13000 miles)

I certainly don't want to add any fuel to the fire, or offend or irratate this thread, pls forgive me I'm new. But I was wandering, if the chain ten is failing, is the noise the only way to know?. Is there a certain way of measuring the tensin i.e: newton scale or of the like?
I have nice xr280r and actually the cam did brake whilst I was was riding (what a drag). It was interesting as I could push the bike in gear (I think) but couldn't kick it over, obviously locked cam chain.
I'm asking as I'v read my bike (my first street bike) has an inherent problem with tensioners.
