Default Manual or Auto CCT?

I have a reason to believe that the cam chain tensioner is going on my 02 F4i. It doesnt seem to make alot of sense cause it has alittle less than 3K miles on it, does that seem like to low of mileage for something like that to break? well anyways, If i do replace the cam chain tensioner what would be best to replace it with? a stock one? i even saw an aftermarket one but there was an automatic, or manual cam chain tensioner, which one does what? and whats the difference? If anybody has got any insight that would be great. Thanks

I had mine replaced a few months ago. Had a ape manual one installed,it is the way to go. From what I have heard from other f4i owners and the guys from my local shop, the stock honda one has a weak spring and sooner or later it will go out. Everyone that I know that has the Ape one has not had a problem yet. If you need any more info contact me.

I have never seen or heard of a auto aftermarket one, so I really don't know what the advantage between the two is. Like I said before, everyone that I know says the ape is the way to go. The one that I use http://www.cbrzone.com/sprockets.html it can be adjusted while it is still on the bike, no need to remove it if it backs off. If you plan on doing it yourself or want a better idea of where it is located and see how it is done here is another link.http://www.bossturbo.com/cbr/howto_cct.shtml hope this helps you

Thanks for the info. Now how much would it cost to get it installed? I wouldnt mind doing it myself, but when it comes to being on a motorcycle i would prefer everything to be running the best it can. Does the bike feel like it has more power? or is there not even a difference? Thanks

I had Lee's Cycles here in San Diego do it. For the part and to have it installed it was a total of around 140. It took them about a hour to do it. The only big difference that I noticed was the sound. It didn't sound like it was about to fall apart anymore. Now not scared to push it more than I did.
