lowered the front

i decided to finally lower the front of my bike 1/2" to quicken the steering. it just felt like a pig compared to my 00' R6. question? the torque specs for the triple clamp pinch bolts are 29ft/lbs for the bottom and 17 ft/lbs for the top. after i lower it i couldn't get my bigger torque wrench to fit so i had to tighten the lower pinch bolts with 1/4" torque wrench. it only goes to 25 ft/lbs max. will i be allright at 25 ft/lbs? thanks all

not sure, but why lower the front to make it turn quicker? that doesnt sound like it would work..

the F4i just doesn't have that sharpness and quick handling my 00' R6 or my 01' gixxer 600 for that matter had. i'll hapilly trade some stability for quicker and lighter steering manners. just really want to know if 25 ft/lbs would be tight enough for the lower pinch bolts on the triple clamps? don't want any unwanted flex or fork tubes sliding up through the trees while i'm riding.

I dont take full responsibility for my advice but I do believe it's ok. Not really much of a difference in 4ft lbs of tq. If your uncomfortable with 25 just put a wrench in there that will work and tweek both of the bolts just a bit.

I would recommend bumping the rear instead for clearance reasons.

cheaper and easier for me to do the front. the bikes never gonna see the track.as far as clearance issues go, i've alreadyused the rear tire to the edges but the front has about3/8" of unused tread leftand my feelers have barely drug. thats as fast as i'm gonna go on the street.ifinally got my ordered (honda!) spanner wrench and set my rear preload from 3 to 7. i weigharound 205 with my gear on. i figure a slip-on and somewoodcraft rearsets and i'm good to go

The front and rear work in unison with what you're trying to do. Raising the rear (bumping preload) sharpens the steering geometry as well, but maintains the front end clearance. Unfortunately, I felt very little change as well when I moved from 3 to 7 rear preload for my 210 size.

the bike is underspung for anyone over a buck 75 with gear. thats why i lowered the front slightly. haven't ridden it yet with the front suspension changes but i'm hopin she steers a tad quicker with no headshake

just thought about it. i didn't clean the fork legs before i lowered the bike 1/2". now the clamped area is partially dirty. the fork legs had some bug guts and otherroad grime on em. could i cause a future problem or ami just being paranoid? don't want to screw up a $7000 machine. thanks for any replies
