Although this may be of little help to the original poster's predicament, it might be helpful to others. I paid $5.99 for 3 blank keys off ebay (from Taiwan) for my '06 F4i and I then brought one to my local ACE Hardware to get it cut. Since ACE Hardware does not carry motorcycle keys they cut the key for free with the caveat they take zero responsibility if the new key works or not. Mine worked.

But since that most likely didn't happen then you can pop your top triple off with the ignition attached. I used a ratchet scrap into the rafters of my garage and under the frame of the bike to hold the front end up while I released the 4 fork pinch bolts and the top triple's nut. In your case you shouldnt have to loosen the lower triples bolts and should be able to do the 2 top pinch bolts and the top triple nut and then pop the top triple off... with the ignition, just remember to unplug the ignition wire connector first

hi all! i happen to be a locksmith and have noticed on most if not all Honda motorcycles i have had to work on by fitting keys, have the key code stamped on the bottom of the gas tank cylinder. I would open the tank and look at the bottom of the part of the lock and check if the code is visible, even if you have a couple keys for the bike it is always a good to know in case you need a locksmith. it will save you money for sure if the situation arises.
