Longest Trip?
#12
>>flint, michigan and have a trip planned for the first week of june down to atlana, georgia. This will be my first "long trip". Fatherest I've gone in a day is about 300 miles. So far I've got on the checklist
Roads not to miss:
Blue Ridge Parkway: Pick it up in Central Virginia, ride it south to Cherokee, NC
Get there through West Virginia, which has tons of twisties, although not in the best of shape due to coal trucks
U.S. 28 between Franklin and Lauada, NC. Best piece of pavement I've ever been on
Follow 28 north to the Dragon. Worth doing once; a bit overrated
SR 106 between Dillard SC and Highlands, NC
Coming into Atlanta from that direction:
SR 52 from Chatsworth to Daholnega, GA. Awesome.
These are just a few of my favorites in the Piedmont. There are many, many more.
Allow yourself an extra three days if you have to, but don't miss these roads. They're a feast for the F4i.
