Default A little chain & gearing help.

So I'm replacing my chain, as well as the sprockets to -15,46 from -15,48. I have it all together looks good, my problem is with 108 links it's too long, and if I take a link out it's odd linked. I don't know if I can manage to get a second link off.

If I assemble it with 108 links and adjust out the slack, which is going to be at the end of the adjustment range. Then just remove another link later on as the chain wear and reset the adjuster, is that ok?

Hopefully somemone with this gearing combo will chime in.. Maybe I'm overlooking or doing something wrong..

Thanks for the help.

15/46 sprocket combo definitely works with stock length of 108 links, but like you said you have to move the wheel back a bit to take out the slack.

Just keep in mind that your chain wear indicator will now be off, which is perfectly ok if you maintain your chain like you should.

Yea I read up on it before posting, and it makes sense.

So what happens when I reach the end of my adjustment range? and the chain still has lots of life left?

Also where can I find these spacer/shims for the chain press, in this DIY? https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mecha...et-swap-97641/

You know what I may have figured it out. I think the adjuster range is alot bigger than I thought.. Which was the cause of my concern

The adjustment range on the swingarm can be completely ignored. Besides that, the chain should bind links before stretching out if you bought a quality one. I have never once stretched a chain past what the swingarm says is the limit but again don't pay attention to the swingarm, pay attention to the chain.
And what exactly do you mean if you take a link out the chain is odd linked?

Thumbs up

Sorry about the delay, didn't want to leave you hanging. I got it all sorted out. I didn't realize how much room there is in the adjustment outside what that gauge says, that was my concern. I get that the chain gives me more of a reading than that gauge.

After going one down in the front I went completely back to OEM gearing. I like the bike much better that way. Much smoother. I bought the bike and learned how to ride it with -1, +2.. So it made a huge difference in my riding. Doing wheelies is of no interest to me..

By odd linked, I meant the two end would be female. Didn't know how else to describe it.
