Looks like a plate for a top box (trunk) to mount onto.

2004 F4i. I bought it with about 9400 miles on it about a month ago. I'm 3rd owner and love the bike. Planning a trip through NY and Vermont end of May so I've been going over all the details trying to make sure there Aren't any surprises along the way.

@RobE30 Wow, great looking machine. My wife and I have taken many trips on our F4i's. They are great and comfortable rides for long trips. Sounds like a great time ahead. That's a nice set of saddlebags. Did they come with it?

thanks! I bought the bags at Cycle Gear on Friday. PO had saddle bags in it but misplaced them. Can't remember the brand of bags off the top of my head but I'm happy with the fit. I've had a handful of mid 70s Japanese bikes prior to this (including a 3cyl 2-stroke Kawasaki that scared the pants off me when it ran correctly) and I gotta say, this thing is amazing 🤩

If it was an H1 or 2 they were truly wild bikes, even the KH 250 was a beast when it hit the power band.
The H1 500 was way too fast for the frame, great in a straight line you just did not want to turn a corner or stop in a hurry..

twas not water cooled. I think it was a 500. Always had to keep a new $1 in my wallet to clean the points.
