Default lacking power on the low end

I dont know if its just the way they are or what. My bike seems to bog down a bit in the lower rpms. When I bought it, the bike already had a power commander installed. Could it be the way the bike is set up? A guy I work with was telling me to get a bigger sprocket. Can anyone recommend what size sprocket to make a bit more torque without losing a ton of top end

Assuming your bike is running OK, try a smallerfront sprocket (-1) or a bigger rear sprocket (+2 or +3).

Alot of people have said that about their F4i. If you check the power commander set up and everything checks out alright then dont sweat it. I mean when your cruising around just keep the bike in the 5000 rpm range when you want power.

I put a -1 in the front sprocket, and it made a huge difference for low end torque. Best money spent.

Get your Power Commander professionally tuned before doing anything.

So stock rear and 1 down in the front made a noticeable difference? Stay with a 525 chain? Im sure this is in an old thread but I missed it.

any time you change sprockets it will affect your acceleration and top end. one in a positive way, the other negative depending on how you alter your sprockets. if you want to keep your top end i would just leave the sprockets alone
you'd also need to run a speedohealer

also, on 99% of crotch rockets you will not need to dyno tune a power commander bc the available downloadable maps will be close enough to perfect you'd be wasting a lot more time than it'd be worth in the end.
just make sure the map selected for your power commander has the same general mods that your bike has. - i think there are 16 or so maps for the F4i
the 1% that could benefit from that would be bikes that have many more mods than the norm or have big bore kits/turbos etc

i'd stay with a 525 chain also bc the acceleration difference is generally barely noticeable but the durability just isn't there

Go stock on the rear sprocket and -1 on the front. I also did a 520 conversion. You will see a difference on the gear change instead of the 520 conversion. It has so much more torque now, you can pop the front end up in 1st gear with the flick of your wrist.

When you change your sprockets, you need to change them both and put on a new chain. If you don't, it will wear one down vs the other. They have to have even wear on them. Also your speedometer is going to be off. Looks like your riding faster than you really are. Get a Speedohealer, this fixes the marginal error on your bike.
