I made the bad decision to use a oem one. The rattling came back within 4000 miles. I want to get the ape just don't feel like going through the install again haha but will eventually

There is no competition in my book - manual is the way to go.

The OEM one fails because it's automatic, and the manual can be set, therefore it'll last as long as the parts are made to hold up until (which should be awhile).

I read a post earlier about from someone who had 20,000+ miles on their bike and never replaced the CCT. They said at first the rattling got worse, but then later stopped. I'm gonna go on my stock one as long as I can bear it and see if it's true

replacing mine took roughly 2 hours, but i also do this for a living

the reason most shops will quote 3 hours is they remove your valve cover to they can set the deflection in your chain to ensure proper tension

a few guys on here have tightened theirs by hand then cranked their bike and turned it until the rattling went away and tightened it down
which may work for some, but if they don't tighten it enough the chain slack can cause their cams to jump time and really screw up their motor

You willing to take the chance and, worst case scenario, replace your entire motor if you are wrong?

It's really not that hard, guys.

Especially not worth the risk.
