Default jump started bike and need help. battery or rectifier

I jumped the bike after bypassing the fuel relay. plugged bike up to car, bypassed fuel relay, started bike, let it run...

now when I go to unhook jumper cables and then the bike dies.

Im figuring the battery is not getting the charge because it is a bad battery(just a year old battery) or the bike is not able to charge the battery because of a faulty rectifier.

any thoughts?

what fuel relay are you talking about, but check bettery voltage, stator (ACv output, resistance, and ground) then the rectifier ACv input and DCv output. Also check ECU source grounds

Was the vehicle running when you jumped it? Because if it was you might have fried your electricalin your bike or just popped a fuse. I don't know what a rectifier is, but I do know that a "stator" is what charges your system. And that could be bad, or bad brushes in your stator. Or just a bad battery.

stators do not have brushes they are stationary coils of wire that produce ac voltage when the magnets on the flywheel pass by. the insulation on the coils of wire could have broken down causeing a ground and it will not put out enough voltage. IF your stator is bad i would reccomend replacing your rectifier also, it may fail in a week or in two years

Take your battery to get load tested. Replace if it doesn't hold a load. Don't jump with a started car. Get a battery tender. You can test your regulator/rectifier by revving the bike and seeing if the light dim/change to indicate it's regulating the voltage.

If you have a fully charged battery, the bike would still run without a working stator until the battery discharged. Similar thing for a car... if you have a fully charged battery with a dead alternator, the car will run until the battery drains back out. The stator recharges the battery.
