Insurance @ the track?
Some were talking about this months ago. What happens if you have a claim that resulted from a track day? What is the legal end of it? ALSO how would you handle it?

ha ha, 1st offense insurance fraud, possible several thousand dollar fine along with several years of jail time if you get caught. Risky to me. I would think just because your on a track and not a regular city road would not have a difference in your insurance. Its still a accident even if it your fault or not. Thats why we pay all this money for insurance. What happen to your bike?

RE: Insurance @ the track?
i have State Farm and they dont cover personal injury if you're involved in a motorcycle accident. so all my accidents have been covered (bodily injury atleast) through my health insurance from work. i have removed insurance from my F4i and dont plan to have it when i begin track days in the spring. i figure if i wreck it, i have to pay to fix it.
good question though, F4iMane...i'll keep checking in on this one.

Read your policy. The contract for insurance will tell you exactly what is covered and what is not covered. Moreover, insurance policies have a tendency to vary by state due to differing financial responsibility laws. This means that if someone here says he or she has coverage, unless you both are in the same state, that does not necessarily mean that you are covered. Of course ifyou are not hurt and the only damage isto the bike, report it as a simplesingle vehicle slide with no police called. They're notgoing to question it.

I have State Farm for everything including my house. I know exactly what they covered before I ever signed the policy. A simple phone call to your agent will tell you all that you need to know.
BTW, anyone that's been here more than a week knows that I was kidding in my first post. I'm a firm believer in accountability.

Be careful in the language you use!!!! I called my State Farm agent and spoke with a secretary. She didn't understand what I was asking and next thing I know my policy was cancelled!!!!! After explaining the situation to the agent, it was reinstated but it wasn't fun.
Words like Racetrack...or even trackday can cause problems.
You should use closed course and advanced riding camp instead. Make sure that if they ask, and only if they ask that you tell them it is non-competitive. Most riding schools are specifically covered but not if it's a race school.
