INSURANCE???
Damn looks like i need to go with statefarm, i got car insurance through Geico for $99 a month for full coverage but they wanted to charge about $5000 a year for the motorcycle insurance, with nothing on my record[:@] . So i went with Progressive and get it for $107 a month. But you guys are getting it on average about $280 a year with state farm, looks like i'm gonna have to go with them.
+1 State Farm obviously.

I have been looking around, and it's difficult because although you can get your car ins. cheaper some places, and bike insurance cheaper other places, it's generally better to lump it all together and find the lowest price for all your insurance. Insurance companies like to get all your business, so it gets cheaper when you throw it all together.
While my bike insurance through Farm Bureau is more expensive than if I went with State Farm, my house and boat insurance through State Farm is quite a bit more expensive. Shelling out an extra $100/yr for the bike is nothing if it saves me $500-600 on my house and boat.
It would suck to be 16 and trying to insure a sportbike with no other vehicle.[:@]

Just out of curiosity guys, what does full coverage give you? I am a bit lazy to look it up on the web sites but my thought is that it covers you, the passenger, bike, and possibly another vehicle. Is there anything else?
Also, if the damage is expensive doesnt the insurance company report the bike to be salvaged? Was I informed wrong?

"Full Coverage" generally denotes that you are covered in the event of:
[ul][*] Collision (your fault)[*] Collision (others fault)[*] Theft[*] Vandalism[*] Hit and Run[*] Fire/Natural Disaster[*] Damage to others property[*] Bodily injury to you, passengers, occupants of other vehicle
[/ul]
This varies so CHECK YOUR POLICY!!!
Full coverage is nice because if you get nailed by some douche who uses a no-name company, and they want to jerk you around, you just turn it in to your company get your stuff fixed and let your insurance go after their company for the reimbursement.
Full coverage is also nice because if someone is only carrying minimul liability and they nail you, their insurance generally will not pay out enough to cover your medical bills. Then it comes out of your pocket and you have to sue the other party for damages. This is where YOUR medical on your insurance kicks in, pays up to your limit, then goes after the moron for the rest.
Full coverage eliminates a lot of hassles. That is why I am switching from liability only to full coverage.

Something to keep in mind:
Insurance companies (at least the ones with good rates and financial numbers) want 9 years of driving experience before they will offer the good rates. After I made the switch from Progressive to State Farm, I thought I would hook up girl friend up also. Since she is only 24, State Farms rates where extremely high. After asking my agent was that was, she said that they need 9 years driving experience.
For those of you under 25:
My experience has shown me that Progressive will have decent rates. I used Progressive for quite a few years, and although they might not have been the cheapest, they always handled my claims fast. They didn't make me run around and get 3 different estimates for repairs, ect...

$138 a year fully covered, except for uninsured. The uninsured would have nearly doubled it. 29 and have been with Statefarm since obtaining license at 15. No accidents. My other vehicles were covered with them also, until they decided to change how they rate drivers. I was paying like $10 a month for Liability and comprehensive on my '87 GN, and I put in on Withdrawn from use, went to re-instate the policy and they told me it would be over $60 a month! I switched all vehicles except bike to tripleA. I'm guessing when the bike comes due, they will raise the rates on it too.
I am 33, I have a 2002 F4i. For Full Coverage I pay 210.0 a year. I have no tickets, no accidents, and i have multi car discount, multi policy discount. I have a 1997 Expedition, full coverage. I pay 410 a year and a 2000 Dodge Stratus Full coverage, and I pay 380 a year for it. Being old does have some perks. My insurance company is Farm Bureau.
