Insulation for Fairing Kits
So I bought one of those cheapo China Fairing kits a while back, and im finally ready to install it. However, it does not have the foam on the side fairing that the stock ones do. I think that is for heat protection. I dont want my brand new plastics all melting... Does anyone have a suggestion of what to put on there. I though I remembered someone suggesting something they got at Home Depot or something, but searches arent really working on the site right now... thanks!
If they are ABS, it's not that big of a deal, but if they are fiberglass, they will burn quick. I learned that the hard way. Anyway, they make heat shielding for the inside of farings that sticks on. Most shops will have some in stock. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...at-Shield.aspx
This thread is a few months old, but just to add some value to it for the members that find it in a search like I did, one of the best products you can get to protect your fairings is Dynaliner (http://www.dynamat.com/products_car_...dynaliner.html). Yes, it's listed as a car audio product, but this stuff provides EXCELLENT heat blocking, and you can get 12 square feet of it for $60 shipped. I went with the 1/4" and it's fantastic! For the best prices, just do a Google shopping search for "Dynaliner 1/4." Hope this helps...
Anyone else have reviews on this? Only my front and rear fairings are ABS so is it worth it? And what about the moose racing heat shield or the dynaliner? I do know the moose racing had at least one review that said it wasn't worth a ****.
