Default Indicator switch operation?

Hi guys. I bought this switch off ebay for my project bike, and I'm a bit confused about the indicator switch component.

It's going on a 1980 CB900, and I've managed to get everything working OK. But. It seems to me the indicators have a 2-stage switch? It appears that there is a 'quick-fire' spring-loaded position (for passing??), and a second 'positive on' with a firmer action that has to be pressed to cancel. It also appears the the front indicators are a 2-filament unit being fed (on the left) by a solid orange, and an orange/white. I thought one would operate 'stage 1', and the other would do 'stage 2', but that doesn't seem to be the case

The only wiring diagram I've been able to find is a poorly-scanned pdf file that my tired eyes are having trouble deciphering

Could someone please advise me on how these switches operate on a CBR600F41? It's off a US model if that makes any difference?

cheers

The front turn signals utilize three (3) wires. Green is negative, the striped ones are for the running lights (constant on), and the solid ones are for the turn signals (intermittent). If you're not going to put running lights on the bike, you would wire it as so:

Right turn-signal ....................... Light blue (+)/Green (-)
Left turn-signal ........................ Orange (+)/Green (-)

Running Lights ......................... Black & Brown (In)/Orange & White/Light Blue & White (Out)
High/Low Beams ....................... White & Blue/White
Horn ....................................... White & Green/Light Green

Excellent info. Thanks heaps for that. I had it all sussed apart from the black-brown power in for the running lights. As I won't be utilising those, I'll wire it according to your first example.
