Default Identify that noise?

I searched for what I could find on here, but nothing seemed to fit the bill - so here goes.

I just took my F4i out of the garage after being stored for winter. After spendig a few hours on the battery tender, it started right up.

I noticed kind of an odd noise when I was riding though. Just sitting at idle, it sounds fine. However when I get into the 3K plus RPM range, there is a strange and loud rattle that comes up. Sounds like someone is shaking a bunch of marbles in a coffee can is the best way to explain it.

I got off of it, and reved it a bit while listening around by the engine. It sounds like it's coming from the top portion of the engine, and definitely changes with RPM level. Of course, the higher the RPM the faster the rattle.

This is probably a *super* vauge description, but does anyone know what might be going on? I do not claim to know anything about motorcycle meachanics, but I do know a bit about cars. It almost sounds like something may be knocking internally........ [:@]

I did a bit of searching about the CCT problem, and that sounds like a very good call.

I'm going to order a stock replacement CCT from a place here in town and swap it out to see if it helps any.

Thanks for the info!

yes I agree however I believe with an APE manual CCT you will have to adjust it every so often where as you can get an OEM part and replace it every so many years.
